St. Patrick's Day Parade fundraiser set for Sunday

The Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee will hold a fundraiser Sunday, Feb. 24, at O’Brien’s Pub as it gears up for the 63rd annual parade next month.

The "St. Practice Day" fundraiser is Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and will honor this year’s grand marshal, Robert “Robbie” Lehane of Portsmouth. The event will feature light food, music and raffles. Tickets cost $25.

The parade steps off on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in front of Newport City Hall on Broadway and will proceed over the next two hours to Carroll Avenue at St. Augustin’s Church in the Fifth Ward. There will be pipe bands, marching bands, fife-and-drum corps, clown units, re-enactment units, and many local, state and regional organizations including police and fire units, social/fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, schools and nonprofits represented.

O'Brien's Pub is located at 501 Thames St.
